About

I used to say our children are only available for a limited time.

But now, 18+ years into parenting, three kids later, hairs-graying, skin-creping, and energy that waxes and wanes—I realized I too, am here for a limited time.

In the cluttered corners of my home are piles of hand-scribbled notes of a life in progress: ratios and recipes on rotations, learning goals, kids' schedules, gardening plans near seeds yet planted, hopes, dreams, aspirations and dust.

What will happen to these piles of papers once I am gone? Will they be swept up and discarded? Please, no, that would feel like a second death. And so here I am showing up to remedy the situation: sharing these notes, thoughts, and ideas on the internet: a place where things supposedly live forever.

I think a lot about the end, about impermanence, about how life will unfold for the people I love most deeply. And in this same breath sits the recurring angst of "What are we eating for dinner?!" and "Come unload the dishwasher!"

I'm still learning. Taking notes along the way.
